21st May, 2024 Dr Marzena Nowacka from Laboratory of Protein Engineering at MMRI gave a lecture to University of Third Age students in Otwock near Warsaw. The talk entitled “Antimicrobial resistance – XIX century pandemia” was dedicated to antibiotic resistance origins, spreading mechanisms and why it has become such an medical threat all over the world. Dr Nowacka was presenting also data showing new alternatives of bacterial infection treatment, including work, which has been done during the POLNOR projects at LPE. Scientists from MMRI have discovered many non-antibiotic antibacterial agents to be useful not only in medicine, but also in veterinary, aquaculture and food industries.
